Enterprise AI for the real world
Bjorn Austraat - 25 years in enterprise AI. Hundreds of millions in impact. Five AI patents.

About
Bjorn Austraat has spent 25 years building AI inside real enterprises, delivering hundreds of millions of dollars of measurable business impact.
He founded Kinetic Cognition in 2024 after a career leading AI inside three of the largest names in financial services, plus earlier roles in Silicon Valley and global consulting. Recent clients include a Fortune 100 financial institution, a globally leading research hospital, a major law firm, and several manufacturing and logistics leaders.
At Truist, Wells Fargo, and IBM, Bjorn built and led enterprise AI teams, created scalable governance and implementation frameworks including the 4Ds (Data, Dollars, Deployability, Differentiation), and personally delivered AI strategy for Fortune 500 enterprises in banking, insurance, telecommunications, and technology.
His career began as an interpreter and translator in Vienna, decades before "translating" between highly technical AI experts and business leaders emerged as a catalyst for delivering and accelerating AI results. This background shaped his lifelong commitment to making complex technical ideas accessible to senior leaders.
He was named AIconics AI Innovator of the Year in 2021 and holds five granted AI patents with three additional patents pending. He has delivered hundreds of keynote presentations, including at the AI Summit NYC, Future Digital Finance, AI & Big Data Expo, Carnegie Mellon's Heinz College, and the Board of Governors of the Central Bank of Austria. He holds an MBA with Honors from UC Berkeley Haas, an MA from the Monterey Institute of International Studies, and an MA from the University of Vienna.
Bjorn lives in Pittsburgh with his family. He publishes at bjornaustraat.substack.com.

Frameworks and Methodology
Five Pillars of AI
Platform, Solution Portfolio, Communication, Talent, and Governance. The Five Pillars define what it takes to move AI from isolated pilots into production at scale. Each pillar carries equal weight. Under-investing in any one of them is how promising programs quietly stall.
4Ds of Winning AI Solutions
Data, Dollars, Deployability, Differentiation. The 4Ds provide a disciplined lens for evaluating AI opportunities before capital is committed. Use cases that cannot answer all four are not ready for investment.
Cognitive Courtesy
The practice of calibrating communication for audience and context. Cognitive Courtesy informs how leaders talk about AI, how teams design AI experiences, and how AI systems themselves engage with the humans they serve.
